Spare is used to remind us of the steps associated with all intake and outcome processes in Shelter Betty. In all cases when bringing an animal into the shelter or sending an animal out, we're going to follow these steps.

In this lesson, I'll be discussing the first two letters of the acronym SPARE, the S and the P. Using the example of an individual from the public bringing a stray animal into the shelter, I'll show you how to perform a search for various types of information and how to add a new person record to the database. Searching for records before a process will help reduce the chances of entering duplicate data. The fields and links on the page, as well as other pages in the system, are grouped and segmented to make it easier to learn and use.
