Product Update April 26, 2026: ADA Compliant Lost & Found Sites
Big News: Your Lost & Found Site Just Got Better A modern, accessible upgrade — required by April 26, 2026

A significant compliance milestone is approaching. Starting April 26, 2026, large shelters in the United States are required to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — specifically, all public-facing websites and mobile applications must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.

To keep your Lost & Found site running and fully compliant, ShelterBuddy is retiring its legacy Lost & Found pages and replacing them with a brand-new, ADA-compliant solution powered by the Adōpets iframe.

The legacy ShelterBuddy Lost & Found page will be discontinued. In its place, your shelter will receive a new Lost & Found experience hosted through Adopets — ShelterBuddy’s trusted partner for public-facing animal pages.

The Adopets-powered Lost & Found isn’t just compliant — it’s a genuinely better experience for both your staff and the public.

If you currently use the ShelterBuddy Lost & Found module (iframe or hosted page), this change applies to you. Here’s a quick summary:
- You use the SB Lost & Found page or iframe
- You have the L&F module but no public page
- You use the SB Public API to power your own front end
- You don’t currently have a Lost & Found page

To help you get comfortable with the new experience, we have prepared:
- An updated Knowledge Base article walking through the new receipt page step by step.
- A short training video showing the new layout in action.
- Direct outreach using our Customer Portal, with any questions.
