Product Update - May 26,2026

Main changes and bug fixes done in our software going out in May 26 for AUS/NZ and June 2nd for US/Dublin

New Features:

1. Now you can search by Phone number using the advance filter in Modern UI
  • You can now search for people by phone number in the Modern UI's Advanced Person Search. Use the "is equal to" filter and enter the full phone number including area code — partial number searches are not supported. The search covers all phone number fields associated to a person. Phone number format follows your shelter's regional standard.
2. Non-refundable flag for Products & Services

    • A new "Non-refundable" checkbox has been added to the Products & Services admin page. When enabled on a product or service, it will be excluded from refund workflows — helping your shelter accurately track what can and cannot be refunded.

    • Action required: This flag was not previously available, please review your Products & Services configuration and enable the "Non-refundable" checkbox for any products or services that should not be eligible for refunds.

    Improvements

    1. Support link now opens the Knowledge Base in a new tab

    • The Support link in both the Classic and New UI menu navigates directly to the ShelterBuddy Knowledge Base, and opens in a new browser tab.

    • Previously, the link led to the Customer Portal (which requires a login), and navigated away from the current page — interrupting active workflows. Staff can now look up help articles and use Buddy AI for self-service support without losing their place in the application.

    2. Change of background color in Classic Pages

    • We continue to work to update the background color in our software. Now you will find white background when using Dispatch and Legal proceeding searches

    Bug Fixes

    1. Cannot update medical notes when clinic field is empty
      • Fixed an error that prevented saving medical notes when the clinic field was left blank.
    2. Desexed filter returning no results in Classic Advanced Animal Search
      • Fixed an issue where using the Desexed (or Spay/Neuter) filter in Advanced Animal Search always returned zero results, regardless of what other filters were applied.
    3. Unable to add new surrendered animals in Classic
      • Resolved an error that occurred when attempting to add a new surrendered animal from a person record via Surrender PC.
    4. Shelter/rescue transfer-in incorrectly requiring Lost & Found address
      • Fixed a regression introduced in the previous release that made Lost & Found address fields required during shelter/rescue transfer-in workflows, even for shelters that do not use jurisdiction settings.
