Product Update - June 23,2026

New Features:

1. Mobile-responsive navigation for Modern UI

• The New UI navigation bar now works on mobile screen sizes. Staff accessing ShelterBuddy from a phone or tablet will see a properly adapted mobile menu, making it easier to navigate the system on the go.

2. General animal note pop-ups for Modern UI

• General animal note pop-ups are now supported in the New UI. When an animal has a note flagged to display as a pop-up, it will appear automatically when accessing that animal's record — matching the behavior already available in the Classic UI. The pop-up supports displaying one or multiple notes, and can be dismissed by clicking "Continue" or the close button.

Improvements

1. New colour scheme 

•  We continue updating the color scheme to include a white background that makes pages more readable and accessible:

  • Search: Dispatch and Legal Proceedings

  • Admin: Jurisdiction, Physical/Visual Exam by; Person Mandatory Fields, Blocked Users, Reset Access to Logins, Suburb Merge
  • Person Details: Finalize Trial Adoption and Existing Animals in Identification Type & Services, DOA, Owner Surrender.   

2.  Kennel cards now supports barcode display for bulk updating 

• Kennel cards used for bulk updating can now display a barcode, providing an alternative to the QR code and better supporting shelters that use barcode scanners in their workflows.

   

3. API: Person record now saves identification type

• The Person API now supports saving the identification type alongside the existing ID state and ID number fields, completing the full identification record for integrations that manage person data.

Bug Fixes

1.  Pay Later Receipts: "Total to Pay Later" 
   
   • Fixed bug on the Financial History page, showing the correct amount on "Total to Pay Later" 
2.  Search Issues 
   

   • Fixed an issue in Advanced Animal Search where selecting a breed had no effect on results. Breed filters now apply correctly.

   • Fixed an issue in in Advanced Animal Search where filtering by Desexed (or Spay/Neuter) always returned zero results. Filter now apply correctly.

   • Fixed a bug where person records with spouse on file could not be found via main or advanced person search pages

 3. Receipt printing outdated address

• Fixed an issue where receipts continued to show a person's old address even after their record had been updated and saved. 

 4. License renewal link appearing for deceased animals

• Fixed an issue in License Owner Search where the 'Renew' link was being displayed for animals marked as deceased. 

 5. Canadian Postal Codes not accepted on Public Site

• Fixed validation issue on Public Sites where Canadian postal codes were being rejected.
